On Friday, Jan. 24, the local Hemingway Chapter of Trout Unlimited will host the International Fly Fishing Film Festival to showcase worldwide, adventurous fishing trips and raise support for local conservation efforts.
Trout Unlimited is a national non-profit organization that protects coldwater fisheries and their habitats. The Hemingway Chapter has over 200 members.
“We wanted to host the Film Festival to build excitement around fishing and showcase the amazing natural resources our rivers have to offer,” said Hemingway Chapter Membership Chairwoman Jill Clark. “Many Trout Unlimited members are drawn to conservation because they love fishing and want to support an organization that works to sustain fish populations and their habitats. We encourage anyone to join us on a project to watch or pitch in - be it 30 minutes or a couple of hours.”
Held at the Argyros Theater, the Film Festival will show two hours of adventure fishing, with a raffle and opportunities to meet other anglers. The $20 ticket supports the Chapter’s fish rescues, river restoration projects and public access monitoring as well as extensive student, veteran and adult programs in the Wood River Valley. Tickets are available at Silver Creek Outfitters, Lost River Outfitters and Sun Valley Outfitters in Ketchum or at the Trout Unlimited office in Hailey. Online purchase and information are through hemingwaytu.org. If still available, tickets will be sold at the event.
