Craters of the Moon National Monument will begin its annual winter programming this Saturday, Jan. 4.
On Saturdays through February, from 1-4 p.m., visitors to the monument can explore Craters on snowshoes during ranger-guided walks. These tours offer participants detailed information on the winter wildlife and the geology of the area. The 1.5-mile trek is presented free of charge and some snowshoes are available for use. Donations are accepted and parents are encouraged to keep in mind that snowshoeing can be strenuous for small children.
The Craters of the Moon staff also takes reservations for large groups or clubs (limited to 30 people). Groups can register for these walks—offered from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays—by calling 208-527-1335 or emailing email@example.com.
