The Idaho Dance Educators Organization, the Idaho state chapter of the National Dance Educators Organization, recently named Hilarie Neely as the recipient of the annual Dance Teacher of the Year Award.

Neely, director of the Footlight Dance Centre in Hailey, has been teaching various forms of dance in Idaho for nearly 40 years.

With Footlight, she regularly leads performances in all Blaine County Schools and has taught ballet, jazz, tap and other styles of creative movement to hundreds of students over the years.

Her influence in the community extends beyond Footlight, too, however. A founding member of the Wood River Arts Alliance—a network of various arts organizations in the valley—she has been promoting the arts in Blaine County for 25 years.
