The Community Library in Ketchum will host award-winning journalist Kim Brown Seely for an evening reading and discussion of her new book “Uncharted: A Couple’s Epic Empty-Nest Adventure Sailing From One Life to Another.”
The book chronicles the real experiences of Seely and her husband after their youngest son left for college. With their economic stability a little up in the air, the couple decided to take a radical new approach to life.
On a whim, they decided to buy a sailboat, learn how to operate it and set out upon a 700-nautical-mile expedition through the Inside Passage, weaving through the islands of southern Alaska and searching for the elusive white Kermode bear.
Seely, a 2016 Lowell Thomas Journalist of the Year and former editor for National Geographic, Microsoft and Amazon, will begin her presentation at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Admission is free. Visit comlib.org for details.
