All eyes will be on Shoshone this coming Wednesday, Jan. 27 when the city will be Idaho's "Capital for a Day."
According to a statement from Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter's office, the first-come, first-served open opportunity to meet with the governor, members of his cabinet and other senior state officials is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Shoshone community center, located at 201 S. Beverly. The governor also will join Mayor J.R. Churchman, other state and local leaders and community members for lunch at the same location.
Officials joining Governor Otter at Capital for a Day will include General Gary Sayler, adjutant general of the Idaho Military Division; Colonel Bill Shawver, director of the Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security; Don Dietrich, director of the Idaho Department of Commerce; Bill Deal, director of the Idaho Department of Insurance; Nancy Merrill, director of the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation; Brian Ness, director of the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD); Devin Rigby, ITD district engineer; Kelly Pearce, director of the Idaho Division of Building Safety (DBS); Tom Blanchard, chairman of the Idaho State Historical Society board of trustees; Kim Toryanski, administrator of the Idaho Commission on Aging; Pamm Juker, chief of staff and communications director for the Idaho State Department of Agriculture; Allen Merritt, southern regional manager for the Idaho Department of Water Resources; Tim Duffner, area supervisor for the Idaho Department of Lands; Bill Hutchinson, assistant to the director for the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG); Gary Hompland, IDFG Magic Valley regional conservation officer; Ken Edmunds, member of the State Board of Education; Nick Smith, deputy superintendent for district support services for the State Department of Education; Garry Lough, executive director of the Idaho Education Network; John Hathaway, regional director for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare; Christine Orders, manager of the Magic Valley and Blaine County offices for the Idaho Department of Labor; and Captain Ked Wills of the Idaho State Police.
