Stuart L. Brown, M.D., noted psychiatrist, clinical researcher, and pioneer in the research on play will make two presentations in our community today, Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7.
Today, from 1- 4 p.m., The Community School, is sponsoring a special in-service for all Blaine County educators, entitled: "Discovering What Nature has Provided Each of Us - Through Play." Educators will learn the evolution and patterns of play behavior, what it does for the brain, body, imagination and emotions. Discover your own personal play history, and learn how to use it personally and professionally. St. Luke's Center for Community Health, in partnership with the Blaine County Community Drug Coalition, will host its annual fall health conference, "Creating a Healthy Community" all day on Saturday at the Community Campus. Dr. Brown will present the keynote lecture, "Play, Spirit and Character - Inseparable Companions Crafted by Nature", in the morning, to be followed in the afternoon by a variety of learning sessions focused on parenting and youth, facilitated by local professionals.
