DOE loan program backs Idaho ethanol

A new Department of Energy loan guarantee program has issued its final regulation and invited an Idaho company to submit an application to produce cellulosic ethanol, said a news release from Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho.

The release said the DOE has invited Iogen Biorefinery Partners, LLC to submit an application for its proposed plant in Shelley, Idaho. The plant would annually produce 18 million gallons of ethanol from straw from barley, rice and wheat as well as from corn stover and switchgrass.
