Trickster Takes Flight

An American crow takes flight from an aspen tree northwest of Ketchum. Feathers of the all-black crows, which are smaller than ravens, can sometimes appear glossy, especially after the birds molt. Considered one of the more intelligent species of birds, crows are social and often mischievous—they sometimes raid garbage cans and harass birds of prey. Photo by Roland Lane
