On Groundhog Day, Boulder Skiers Opt For Winter
At Cathedral Pines along the 32-kilometer Boulder Mountain Ski Tour course north of Ketchum, 29-year-old Leif Zimmerman, of Bozeman, Mont., guides the lead Elite Men’s pack up a short slope Saturday. At left in the classic tracks is eventual winner Sylvan Ellefson, 26, of Vail, Colo. Zimmerman (1.09:21) finished just behind the 12-racer lead pack in a 32-kilometer freestyle race that attracted 669 skiers.
