Send a message: Vote ‘no’ on road tax

I urge everyone to vote against the proposed road tax being foisted upon the property owners of Blaine County.
The cities of Ketchum and Sun Valley have sold the local option tax to the citizens to pay for those services required for a part-time population of 10,000 or more because of tourism, although the full-time population is far less. That was a valid argument.
However, the local option tax is being spent to subsidize the airlines, to pay for advertising, in order to increase the part-time tourist population. That hardly meets the requirement that the local option tax be spent for the increased services, such as road repairs, fire department, police department, increased sewer and water capacity, etc. needed as a result of tourism.
The airlines, the Fly Sun Valley Alliance, the Sun Valley Marketing Alliance and Sun Valley Co. are private companies. It is illegal for the cities to give our money away to those entities. Because of political pressure, etc., the powers that be have been bamboozled into overlooking that minor fact.
I, personally, am appalled at our local governments, as well as our state and federal governments, which continually ignore the law and the Constitutions.
Vote “No” on the proposed road tax and send a message to those who ignore the law, the intent of the law, and the Constitution.
