Sylvan Emer Wood, 75, of Hailey, Idaho, passed away May 3, 2014, surrounded by his family.
Emer was born Oct. 28, 1938, in Boise, Idaho, to his parents Sylvan B. Wood and Harriet A. Harris. He graduated from Boise High and went on to serve an LDS mission in London, England. Shortly after returning home, he married the love of his life, Sylvia J. Wood, in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple on Aug. 10, 1961.
Emer graduated with an Associates of Science in 1967 and a Bachelor in Art in 1968, from Boise State. After graduating, he worked for three years for the Idaho Hospital Association, before going to work for State Farm in 1971 for 41 years. He was a top producer for State Farm and loved his work. Emer loved to spend time with his family and travel. He loved camping and flying his plane. He always volunteered and gave a lot of his time to the Boy Scouts, serving as a council president and in many stake office positions for the LDS church. He spent his last years in his favorite place in Harrisburg, Utah, with his wife and dogs.
Emer is survived by his wife Sylvia and sister Kathleen Holyoak. He is also survived by his four children: Pamela J. Larsen, Cindy A. Farris, Daniel E. Wood and David W. Wood. Emer had 13 grandchildren that he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Hailey, Idaho LDS Church. All are welcome to attend. Burial will follow in the Hailey Cemetery.
