The Ketchum City Council unanimously approved a contract for services to hire Ramon “Ray” Silver as the city’s new interim city administrator during Monday’s meeting.
According to his contract, “Silver shall be an employee “at will” serving at the pleasure of the Mayor and may leave his position, or be terminated, at any time for any or no reason.”
Mayor Nina Jonas will be Silver’s direct supervisor. He is expected to work full-time for approximately 40 hours per week. As long as Silver is an employee of the city, he is not allowed to accept outside employment without prior approval of the mayor.
Under the contract for services, Silver will make $13,000 per month, and will receive a housing stipend of no more than $1,500 per month. He is entitled to two vacation days and one day of sick leave per calendar month.
Silver has previously served as the city administrator of Huntington Beach, Calif.
Outgoing City Administrator Gary Marks said the city should begin its search for a permanent replacement as soon as possible.
“This is going to be a process that will likely take you four to five months to complete, so I would highly recommend getting started as soon as possible,” Marks said.
