In the June 19 Idaho Mountain Express, there was an article about The Gables plans to build an assisted-living facility in Hailey. On behalf of Safe Haven, we welcome additional senior-care providers to the community.
While the Gables is a competitor and represents a specific segment of the industry (private pay market), they have a good reputation and whatever they build will be an attractive asset to the community. Now that the county is committed to getting out of the long-term care business, more private providers will be interested in locating to Sun Valley, as they won’t have to worry about paying their property taxes to subsidize a government-sponsored competitor.
Safe Haven will have building permits this week and plans to start demolition next week, with construction shortly thereafter of our Bell Mountain facility in Bellevue. With the Gables entering the market as well, residents of Blaine County will have a variety of choices to choose from. The era of government-subsidized single-choice care is coming to an end and a new age of choice is coming to the community. Less property tax, more choice. It looks like a win-win for everyone.
