Community School senior Taylor Adler has been selected as one of two Idaho delegates to the United States Senate Youth Program in Washington, D.C., in March.
According to a news release, Adler will join 99 other delegates on March 8, 2014, for a week in Washington experiencing national government in action. Student delegates will hear policy addresses by senators, cabinet members, officials from the departments of state and defense and directors of other agencies. The delegates will also participate in a meeting with a U.S. Supreme Court justice.
“This is certainly an honor for Taylor, and by extension, those of us who work with him at Community School,” said Ben Pettit, upper school head and assistant head of school. “Taylor is an ethical, driven and humble young man. He can and will make a difference in the greater world, so the United States Senate Youth Program is a great avenue to help him do so.”
Adler is also the founder of the Sun Valley Youth Council, as well as a valley-wide partnership between schools and restaurateurs that introduced recyclable containers to school lunches.
