Legion captures nightcap over Diggers

11-6 at Sugar City

Timely hitting and a strong pitching effort by Alec Nordsieck gave the Wood River American Legion Wranglers baseball team an 11-6 win over the Sugar-Salem Diggers Monday in eastern Idaho.
Action took place in the nightcap of an Area C “A” non-conference doubleheader—the first two games of a two-day, four-game Wranglers journey before Independence Day.
Nordsieck whiffed 11 Diggers and got plenty of hitting help from Finn Isaacson (3-for-3, 5 RBI), who belted a grand slam homer. Lane Felger added two hits including an RBI for coach Trent Seamons’ squad.
Cameron Benson (4 RBI) was the hitting star of the first game won by the Diggers 10-7.
Wood River (7-8, 4-4 league) visited the Idaho Falls Bees Tuesday for an afternoon twinbill, then returned to Hailey to stage its car parking fund-raiser for the July 2-4 Days of the Old West rodeo. The Wranglers entertain Madison White from Rexburg Monday, July 8 at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. in Hailey.
