Film series continues with ‘Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical’

Magic Lantern and The Center to present alternative material this winter

By EXPRESS STAFF

Magic Lantern Cinemas in Ketchum is continuing its Thursday evening film series, the Magic Lantern Film Society, with alternative content including Broadway shows, live music concerts and independent films, in partnership with the nonprofit Sun Valley Center for the Arts.
On Thursday, Dec. 5, the Magic Lantern will present “Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical,” which stars David Hasselhoff. “Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical” brings new life to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic story of the epic battle between good and evil, as imagined by acclaimed composer Frank Wildhorn and writer/lyricist Leslie Bricusse.
On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Sun Valley Center for the Arts will present “Pompeii from the British Museum.” The first ever cinema event from the British Museum is an exclusive private view of the major exhibition “Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum.”
The new Magic Lantern Film Society, which was formerly the Movie Club, will have a range of award-winning documentary, Broadway performances, dramatic independent films, classic Oscar Award-winning movies, cult classics and more almost every week through May 2014.
The series will include guest speakers as well as costume parties and after-film-screening gatherings. Tickets can be purchased at the Magic Lantern Cinemas box office, or at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts for films sponsored by The Center. Most films will be shown on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m.
Check listings at The Center and Magic Lantern Cinemas websites for updates.
