Hulen Meadows residents want say in park

We and many others in Hulen Meadows, who will be most affected by a proposed river park with is public parking, structures, traffic jams on our doorsteps and no foreseeable plan or budget to manage any of it, are more than concerned that our interests and rights are being completely ignored. We have never been explicitly included in any background discussion or planning and to this day have not been provided with a study of how this may impact the value of our properties nor the quality of life we enjoy now. As a matter of fact it becomes blatantly obvious that no one cares what we, in particular, think or feel when our own house is not even shown on the misleading panel on Ketchum’s Town Square.
We are giving voice to many who are concerned about the above mentioned issues and have written to various parties but so far been practically ignored. To be clear, most of us are not against a water park—but we are vehemently against any parking and structures on the Hulen Meadows side and not ready to go forward with anything until we are presented with a plan and reasonable budget that shows how all these public spaces will be managed. There is no reason the pond and its natural environment, now a real wildlife magnet, should be disturbed in order to create what Colorado’s designers of the water park desire. Instead, the whole parcel along the river on Highway 75 from the Hulen Meadows bridge to the now existing Sun Peak area lends itself perfectly to a great river park. We want our concerns to be taken seriously and deserve some answers.
