The Idaho Transportation Department announced Thursday that northbound traffic on state Highway 75 in the construction zone south of Ketchum will be diverted onto Broadway Run beginning Saturday morning and that the detour may last through the weekend.
The detour will last from 8 a.m. until paving activities end each day. Southbound traffic will not be detoured
ITD reported in a news release that the contractor, Idaho Sand and Gravel Co., of Jerome, will be paving new traffic lanes to the west of the old roadway between Cold Springs Drive and Hospital Drive and will be completing a crossover from the old roadway to the new roadway in preparation for a winter construction shutdown.
“The restricted space does not allow for a continuous center-turn lane.”
ITD reported that following paving the contractor will complete construction of temporary driveways for business access and installation of signage and striping.
“Through the winter, both directions of traffic will be shifted to the new alignment onto two lanes of traffic just south of Hospital Drive,” the newss release states. “The restricted space does not allow for a continuous center-turn lane, but left-turn bays will be included for southbound traffic at Broadway Run and Cold Springs and for both directions at Hospital Drive.”
The road work, which should be completed next year, involves widening a 3.75-mile stretch of Highway 75 between Timber Way north of East Fork Road and the bridge over the Big Wood River near St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center.
