Trick-or-treaters will be out in force on Thursday, especially in the downtown area of Hailey where many merchants and kids will be participating in the annual Halloween Hoopla.
Hailey Police Chief Jeff Gunter reminds motorists to be on high alert when the event takes place from 3-6 p.m. Police officers will be on hand to escort children and parents across Main Street at its intersections with Croy, Bullion and Carbonate streets. Gunter said trick-or-treaters will also be flocking into the city’s neighborhoods and motorists should remain on alert throughout the evening.
Children are cautioned to wear costumes that are bright and reflective. Parents are asked to accompany young children on trick-or-treat trips. Even with older children, Gunter suggested that parents review the route they’ll be taking and have an agreed upon time when they will return home.
All trick-or-treaters are reminded to stay on well-lit streets, to be mindful of traffic, stay in groups and never enter a home or car to receive a treat.
