Get a taste of Red Dirt country so true you’ll check your socks for chiggers when Reckless Kelly plays at the Sun Valley Pavilion with The Trishas.
An extension of the talented Braun family from Challis, Reckless Kelly laid the trajectory to fame for younger siblings Micky and the Motorcars, heading from Idaho to Texas with a plan to come back bigger.
The band, whose name was inspired by Australian bank robber Ned Kelly, actually formed in Bend, Ore., but the group became an Austin standout, releasing its first album, “Millican,” in 1997.
Current members are Willy Braun, Cody Braun, David Abeyta, Jay Nazz and Joe Miller. They celebrated their first Grammy nomination in 2011 for “Album Art.”
They will share songs from their 10th studio album, “Long Night Moon,” and the stage with harmonious, guitar-rich girl band The Trishas, touring their album “High Wide and Handsome,” with fan favorites like “Mother of Invention.”
