Sun Valley Tennis Club director Mark Frisby announced Thursday that the Lyle Pearson Labor Day tennis championships will be held as scheduled.
The three-day holiday tournament will be played Saturday through Monday, Aug. 31-Sept. 2 on the resort courts. Like many athletic events in the valley, it had been jeopardized by the Beaver Creek Fire.
Players may enter three events in the U.S.T.A. Intermountain competition, with two matches guaranteed. Entries close Monday, Aug. 26 at midnight Mountain Time. Local sponsors include Atkinsons’ and Sun Valley Resort.
All Open divisions are sanctioned, invitational events.
Contact tournament director John Perry for details at 208-559-4694 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org. All other divisions are not sanctioned and non-U.S.T.A. members can enter. There is a players’ party Sunday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. including a raffle for many prizes.
