The American Legion, David Ketchum Post 115 will host a Memorial Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the Ketchum Cemetery.
American flags will decorate graves of all known veterans. Members of Post 115 will parade, post the colors, and provide a ceremonial firing-squad salute.
The speaker will be Lt. Col. Reginald R. Reeves, U.S. Army (retired). A special guest will be Col. Christopher S. Sage, Commander, 366th Operations Group, of Mountain Home Air Force Base.
Other features will include the laying of a wreath, singing of “The Star Spangled Banner” led by Sue Noel, and a special appearance by the men’s chorus A Few Good Men. In addition, there will be a fly-over by two World War II-vintage P-51 Mustangs from the Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa.
The event is free. The cemetery is north of downtown Ketchum on state Highway 75.
Hailey’s Memorial Day ceremony will honor the Vietnam era and is dedicated to Specialist Fourth Class Gary Boushele. It will start at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the Hailey Cemetery.
The guest speaker will be Brigadier Gen. (Ret.) Alan C. Gayhart. There will also be a fly-over by the P-51 Mustangs.
This event will be held rain or shine. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs, but some bleachers will be available.
The Hailey Cemetery will be decorated with more than 400 American flags starting today, May 24.
