Ballet teaches things like self-esteem, confidence and body awareness. Those are big reasons that valley parents like to expose their children to ballet programs when they are young and raring to go.
In operation in various incarnations here since 1978, the non-profit Sun Valley Ballet School directed by Jill Brennan and Nadja Hirner has just the recipe to focus the attention of aspiring young ballet students this summer.
Sun Valley Ballet School (806-1441) is offering Summer Camp Workshops for ages 5-7 and 8-10 in two separate two-week sessions—June 17-28 and July 15-26.
The sessions are conducted in the school’s Hailey studio located in the Centennial Station Building of north Hailey at the corner Main and Silver.
- Ballet for ages 5-7 (grades kindergarten through 2). From 9:30 a.m. to noon, cost $160 for the two-week program.
- Ballet for ages 8-10 (grades 3-5). From 1-2:30 p.m. including 90 minutes of technique daily, cost $110.
The camps include lots of dancing and ballet-oriented art projects, with healthy snacks and materials included.
