The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office is once again offering free activities this summer through the Police Activities League Summer Outdoor Activities 2013.
The organization, more commonly referred to as PAL, is offering fishing, hiking, swimming, camping, rafting, dinner-movie combos, baseball games, and a host of other fun things to do from June through August.
The program is open to youngsters 9-16, but for rafting trips, kids need to be at least 12.
The purpose of PAL is to get kids involved in fun, positive recreational activities to help steer them away from negative activities such as consumption of alcohol, street gangs and illegal drugs.
This summer’s PAL events kick off on Monday, June 10, with a dinner and movie combo package. Swimming at Hagerman is set for Tuesday, June 11, followed by a fishing day on Wednesday, June 12. An overnight rafting trip is planned for Thursday, June 13.
Each week through the summer is filled with similar adventures for youngsters.
PAL activities last until Aug. 16 with the final event being an all-day trip to Redfish Lake.
There is no charge for any event, but registration 10 days in advance of an event is required.
