A cyclist on Warm Springs Road in Ketchum was hit by a pickup truck at the intersection of Turf Drive on Thursday, April 4, at about 3:30 p.m.

Ketchum Police Chief Steve Harkins identified the cyclist as Ketchum resident Kevin Cahill, 53. According to Harkins, Cahill was riding east on the bike path when he was struck by a gray Chevrolet Silverado driven by Ketchum resident Robert Kinsella, 68, who was driving south on Turf Drive.

“Kinsella reported to police that he accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake when he approached the intersection,” Harkins said. “He went through the intersection at about 10 to 15 mph.”

According to Harkins, “the bicycle ended up under the vehicle,” but Cahill did not sustain life-threatening injuries. Harkins said Cahill was transported to St. Luke’s Wood River via a Ketchum Fire Department ambulance. St. Luke’s spokeswoman Jenny King said Cahill was treated and released later the same day.

Harkins said Ketchum Police cited Kinsella with misdemeanor inattentive driving.
