Jason Miller has been rehired as Mountain Rides Transportation Authority’s executive director.
The decision to rehire Miller came Wednesday following a board of directors’ executive session. Mountain Rides reported in a news release that the vote on Miller was unanimous.
Rehiring Miller was not automatic. He was required to interview with the board the same as other candidates for the position.
His appointment will become effective April 15.
Miller, who had served as executive director since 2007, left Mountain Rides in February for a technical sales representative position with Proterra Inc., an electric bus manufacturer headquartered in Greenville, S.C. Miller planned to continue living in Hailey but would have been traveling frequently.
In an interview, he had only good things to say about Proterra, but explained that his decision to seek being rehired with Mountain Rides came about because he missed his old job.
“It’s one of those things where you think the grass is greener but it’s not,” he said. “It’s pretty straightforward. I realized when I got into the new job that I really missed Mountain Rides and I really loved that job and being in the community.”
Miller returns to the job with his previous annual salary of $92,768.
