Fishing expert Bryant Dunn will talk about “Fishing the Himalayas” at the next monthly meeting of the Hemingway Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
The meeting is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at Whiskey Jacques’ Restaurant & Nightclub on Main Street in Ketchum. The public is invited and admission is free.
Dunn, the owner of Sun Valley Outfitters and supervisor of the Sun Valley Ski Patrol, has spent part of the last few years fly fishing in exotic places such as India, Nepal, Thailand and Bhutan. Later this year, Dunn will lead an expedition into eastern Bhutan to make the first fishing descent of a major Himalayan River that was first navigated in 2011. He’s currently planning an expedition into Burma for 2014.
His association with the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan began in 2007 when he was hired to assess the “fishability” of the country.
“In all of my travels I had never experienced a culture of such colorful, friendly or accepting people,” Dunn stated in a press release. “I felt at home the moment I set foot on that Himalayan soil.”
Dunn has lived in the Wood River Valley for 20 years, but his love of fishing has taken him to 50 countries on six continents.
He does a presentation for Trout Unlimited about once a year, and typically fills his presentations with cultural discussions and numerous beautiful photographs.
