Tech conference to debut at resort

Dent the Future set for March 24-27

The first Dent the Future technology conference— co-founded by Parnassus Group founder Steve Broback and tech writer Jason Preston—is scheduled to debut March 24-27 at Sun Valley Resort.

The conference is offering an unspecified but “nice” discount to locals off its $2,750 “invite-only” attendance fee.

Broback said the event is named after Apple co-founder Steve Jobs’ famous “We’re here to put a dent in the universe” quote.

“Dent aims to translate the success of great leaders in business, politics or charity into a set of lessons for those who can put a dent in the future,” states a press release from Dent the Future LLC. “The concept and lessons of Dent can be applied to all kinds of work, from nonprofit to Fortune 50, and from design to music and performance.”

Speakers will include Dave Girouard, founder of Upstart and former president of Google Enterprise; Alvy Ray Smith, co-founder of Pixar Animation Studios and Altamira Software; and Harper Reed, chief technology officer for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.

The conference is sponsored by Microsoft Bing, Scientific American and Southwest Airlines.

To request an invitation or for more information, visit the event’s website at www.dentthefuture.com/request_invite. Broback declined to elaborate on how much the discount will be. He did say that to receive the discount, Blaine County residents should include the fact that they’re locals on their invitation requests.
