Get Along, Little Doggies

By WILLY COOK

Things got a little confusing at the finish for Nadia Novik during the 28th running of the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley’s Paw ’n’ Pole event, held at Lion’s Park in Hailey and on the adjacent Croy Nordic Ski Trails. Shelter dog Spencer, middle, came out to greet shelter dog Bruno, left, while Novik’s dog, Stella, right, put on the brakes. Everything worked out fine for Novik and company with some skilled navigating on her part. About 35 racers and an additional 20 spectators turned out to participate in the event’s inaugural presence in Hailey. “The Paw ’n’ Pole is a great way to bring animals and people together while supporting the shelter and having fun outdoors,” said Volunteer and Events Coordinator Brittany Farrell. Express photo by Willy Cook
