Joyce Nevins Patterson, beloved wife, best friend and soulmate of husband Jim, passed away on Jan. 15, 2013, at her home in Fountain Hills, Ariz. She was surrounded by loving family and friends and under the care of Hospice of the Valley. She was 60 years old.
Born and raised in Athol, Mass., the daughter of the late Frank Nevins and Virginia Brackett Nevins, she is also predeceased by two sisters, Joan Nevins Pitcairn and Judith Nevins Bowden.
Joyce was a member of the first woman graduating class at Holy Cross College in Worcester, Mass., in 1974. She then moved to Ketchum, Idaho, for many years, where she worked in various careers. In 1985 she moved back east and lived in New Hampshire, where she and Jim were married. They enjoyed travelling throughout the country and have several special places they returned to again and again. They eventually settled in Arizona and built a real estate business with MCO Realty.
In addition to Jim, she also leaves her stepson, Reese Patterson, and his wife, Alison, of Winter Garden, Fla., and her stepdaughter, Kate Arsenault, and her husband, Scott, of Portsmouth N.H., along with three handsome grandsons, Jack and Riley Patterson and Dylan Arsenault. She also leaves three sisters, Jackie Judsky of Marietta. Ga., Jennifer Nevins of York, Maine, and Jaye Nevins of Titusville, Fla., along with two brothers, J. Bart Nevins of Bellingham, Wash., and Jeff Nevins of Hailey, Idaho. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, many of whom have labeled her Favorite Aunt.
She was very caring, generous and loyal to her family and to many special friends. She will be truly missed.
