Sun Valley audit was a waste of money

The Sun Valley mayor and his council should be embarrassed and ashamed at the way they have handled their issues with Sun Valley city employees. The mayor could have demonstrated good managerial capabilities with integrity and compassion. The individuals who were not performing according to his standards could have been counseled and maintained or they could have been released from their positions. Instead, the mayor took an active interest in going on a “witch hunt.”

To go through the process of spending Sun Valley city money to look for criminal activity within his administration was uncalled for. These employees are friends, family, devoted members of our community, churches and organizations. They are not criminals. They deserve respect.

Police Chief Cam Daggett has been an active member of our community for more than 35 years. He has been on call 24 hours per day. Cam has trained search-and-rescue dogs that have been successful in saving lives. He has been involved in statewide organizations that help better the lives of his community. He is the type of person we want in our community.

We’re sorry to have witnessed not only Cam’s life, but also all the other employees within the city of Sun Valley, go through great personal and health challenges due to the inadequacy of the mayor of Sun Valley.

I hope the citizens of Sun Valley reflect upon their elected officials and consider why this mayor chose to spend their money (and a lot of it!) for something that could have been handled in a more professional and constructive manner. When will Mayor Briscoe become accountable for his actions? He was delinquent on his property taxes. Even with this, he wasn’t honest. It was “someone else” who was at fault. We think the city of Sun Valley deserves better than this.
