A Few Good Men perform

Awesome acoustics + incredible voices = great times

A Few Good Men are ready to take your cares away for the rest of this year.
Under the direction of R.L. Rowsey, the choir will present a free concert of holiday fare at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church on Sun Valley Road on Sunday, Dec. 30.
The group, composed of nine grown men and young men, “juggle schedules and alter plans so that we can continue to sing together,” Rowsey said. Among them is newcomer Max Mauldin, son of local favorite John Mauldin. Max fills Nathan Kriffern’s spot, vacated when he left for college.
“This experience of A Few Good Men has become very important to all of us as singers and as people in the community,” Rowsey said. “The opportunity to get together regularly to sing is having a profound positive impact on us. It’s an amazing escape from the craziness of the world and from the responsibilities of our busy schedules.”
Such a great feeling is better shared, he reasoned.
“It becomes even more important for us to share our songs and our voices with the community, and Our Lady is the perfect venue. The acoustics are unbelievable.”
As for the music for the upcoming concert, Rowsey said the group will extend the holiday tunes.
“Why not stretch those wonderful warm, bubbly, brightly colored feelings out as long as possible?” he said. “If people can walk in the door with all of their stuff, the stresses and pressures that get wrapped up in the holidays, and after an hour with us find a smile on their faces or see a light at the end of the tunnel, then we’ve done our job well.”
The unaccompanied men’s voices will fill the rafters, hopefully inspiring the audience to sing long after the concert ends.
“I would like everyone else to know the amazing lift we feel when we sing together,” Rowsey said. “Maybe we all need to sing more. It’s healthy. Good for the soul. Good for the body. And it just can’t hurt to put a few more warm harmonies out into our world.”
