Meet ‘Friends’ in Bellevue park

Library gala offers casual elegance for a good cause

By JENNIFER LIEBRUM
Express Staff Writer

The evenings are cool, the leaves are rustling and soon it will be time to enjoy a good book by a fire.
To ensure that the Bellevue Public Library will have all the hot reads and popular favorites on hand, the Friends of the Library will hold their second annual Membership Gala at Bellevue Memorial Park on Friday, Sept. 21.
The evening will feature local performing artists R.L. Rowsey, Janis Plant Walton and Karli Walton, performing a concert in an intimate setting. Hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine and lemonade will be served. The $20 tickets include an annual membership to the Friends.
Rowsey serves as musical director and conductor for many national productions. He is musical director for Light on the Mountains Spiritual Center and is artistic director for the Sun Valley Summer Symphony School of Music.
Janis Walton has been on stage since age 3. Her credits include professional music and theater and studio recording, and she toured with a duo concert tour in six states for three years. She has been in Laughing Stock/nexStage Theatre and St. Thomas’ Playhouse productions.
Ticket sales and donations will fund the library’s outreach efforts in Bellevue. Call 788-2128 for tickets and information.
