Democratic congressional candidate Nicole LeFavour will take another swing through the Wood River Valley next weekend, as part of a statewide tour to rally support for her run against Rep. Mike Simpson, R-Idaho.
LeFavour will attend a meet-and-greet party at a Ketchum-area home on Saturday, Sept. 1, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Financial Director Rialin Flores said the event is open to the public and is free to attend.
“But it is a fundraiser for the campaign,” she added, and donations will be solicited at the event.
LeFavour will also attend a special benefit concert by Carole King on Sunday, Sept. 2, at the home of Blair Hull and Gail Severn from 4-8 p.m. Tickets for the event are $1,000 each, and the number of attendees is limited to 60.
Flores said invitations for both events have been sent out to Blaine County Democrats, a list of which has been supplied by the hosts and supplemented by the campaign. However, both events are open to the public—as long as attendees RSVP to Flores at either rialin@4idaho.org or by phone at 208-371-8183.
LeFavour is running against Simpson for congressional representation of District 2, which spans the southern part of the state, including Blaine County. At a home north of Hailey in June, LeFavour outlined her plans for the state as part of a fundraising event.
She said her plans include restoring jobs lost to state budget cuts, eliminating Bush-era tax cuts and prompting a decentralized energy policy that would take greater advantage of Idaho’s sustainable energy resources.
LeFavour is an Idaho state senator and former teacher and small business owner. She has served in the Legislature for eight years, representing the Boise area.
