Live music in the Wood River Valley hits its summer peak this week.
Already in motion, the Edgar M. Bronfman "In Focus" series will continue its performances tonight with artist-in-residence Jean-Yves Thibaudet on piano with Alasdair Neale conducting. A pre-concert talk will take place at 5:30 p.m. The series will end on Friday, July 29, with a concert titled "Let Me Arrange That For You." The free performances begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Sun Valley Summer Symphony will begin residence in the Sun Valley Pavilion for symphony season with free concerts and picnicking permitted on the Sun Valley Pavilion lawn. Opening night on Monday, Aug. 1, will feature pianist Thibaudet with music by Bernstein, Grieg and Ravel. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m.
At Whiskey Jacques' in Ketchum, the week of some the summer's best live music begins today, July 27, with The Trishas, a folk music quartet from Austin, Texas. On Thursday, July 28, enjoy a Sun Valley Shakedown after party at 10 p.m. with the Fox Street All Stars, the opening band for the Sun Valley Shakedown music festival. On Friday, July 29, don't miss the hottest touring band in the Northwest, Orgone, at Whiskey's. Orgone is a 10-piece funk party band. Finally, on Saturday, July 30, the valley's own and, now, Boise-based band Finn Riggins will rock Whiskey's, as the band always does.
This evening, July 27, the Back Alley Party continues its summer concert series at The Wicked Spud in Hailey with live music by Finn Riggins to benefit the Wood River Land Trust. The show will take place from 6-9:30 p.m.
On Thursday, July 28, enjoy free live music at the Hailey Farmers' Market with Spare Change from 2:30-6:30 p.m. In addition, Town Square Tunes in the Ketchum Town Square will feature free live music by Dewey, Pickette & Howe from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday. Other music around the valley will include Johnny Shoes and the Rhythm Rangers at Mahoney's Bar and Grill in Bellevue on Thursday, July 28. The show will start at 6:30 p.m. on the outdoor patio.
Don't miss live music by the Paul Tillotson Trio at Trail Creek Cabin on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5-8 p.m. throughout the summer.
On Friday, July 29, the Silver Dollar in Bellevue will feature Hoodwink at 9 p.m., and the Sun Valley Brewery in Hailey will have live music by Blvd Park on Friday, July 29, at 8:30 p.m. The band will play the Sawtooth Music Festival on Saturday, July 30. The Sawtooth Music Festival will take place from July 29-30 at Pioneer Park in Stanley. In addition, live music on Sunday, July 31, will take place at Redfish Lake Lodge from 4-7 p.m. with Carrie Rodriguez and guest.
On Sunday, July 31, Jazz in the Park at Ketchum's Rotary Park will hold its last free summer live music performance with Alan Pennay and Friends from 6-8 p.m. More music will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 2, with Rebecca Cox at the Ketchum Farmers' Market from 2:30-6 p.m. Also on Tuesday, Ketch'em Alive, a free live music concert series at Ketchum's Forest Service Park, will feature the valley's own The Bobos from 7-9 p.m.
