An aspen tree blown over Sunday by a strong gust of wind rests on the rooftop of West Ketchum resident Susie Adams. Adams was standing in her kitchen at about 3 p.m. when she thought she heard thunder directly overhead. It turned out to be a mature tree that fell from neighbor Michelle Stennett’s yard. Fortunately for Adams, Stennett’s fence took the brunt of the fall, resulting in minimal roof damage. Sunday was a day of chilly temperatures, winter-like gray and steady, high winds coming from a different-than-usual direction, primarily the south. Tree companies such as Arbor Care received several calls Monday regarding downed cottonwood and aspen trees and many large broken tree branches.
