Well then I guess it is a good thing the White European invaders wiped these evil Native American Hunters off the Continent then, just look what these evil redskins used to eat !!!! * Antelope 10/13/09 - 17:35
Wouldn't it be nice if some people were extinct? Especially the ones who want to kill everything that breathes. 10/13/09 - 20:05
It was Troy that brought the Trojan horse inside their gates and then they all got drunk and fell asleep. America's Trojan horse is agenda 21, sustainable Development, of the United Nations Charter, enjoy your wine and cheese enviros, it shall be short lived. 10/13/09 - 20:20
How much intelligence does it take to be a Congressman or Senator, It is really easy to bankrupt a nation's economy and flush the middle class down the drain. How much intelligence does it take to walk into the polling booth and press the I vote for you to steal from me all you want to whenever you want to until my country is ruined. What sort of advanced degrees require this expertise? 10/12/09 - 17:34
Stop the bashing and hateful energy, it's not the communication of reasonable people. Quoting and spewing forth fear is cowardly. How was opening day? any good stories? Happy hunting. 10/12/09 - 19:01
I scored two cords dude. 10/12/09 - 19:52
LOL, MFN! 10/12/09 - 13:34
As of monday noon two wolves have been taken in the southern zone. I wonder if another was taken from the phantom pack ? I wonder if it was gut shot ? I wonder if any of the pro wolfers got it on tape like they said they would ? Oh yeah, were you out there with your cameras ? 10/13/09 - 17:16
Don't worry readers, most people liks Farber and Gut Shot Chuch end up in prison or in an asylum. Then the world and Idaho in particular will be a safer place, but only a little. Guys like them should not have access to guns. 10/12/09 - 13:06
trophy vs meat How about entertainment? Spending time in the woods? Getting away from it all, etc , etc.. Lots of different reasons to go hunting. Spending time with Grandpa. A goal, a project, a mission, doing something besides watching football!! 10/11/09 - 10:06
Independence be damned, where is my free depends matrix feeding tube shoving soylent green down my throat. We don't need our own meats to harvest off the mountain, we don't flowers plants or herbs, we don't need to grow our own gardens, Independent free thought and self sustained survival practices are over blown. We don't need national pride, or heritage. We need free feed from Wort Mart or Chinese Costco..Feed me corporate occupiers feed me. 10/11/09 - 09:01
All this bickering and digression with the article about Deer hunting season. Not who is the smartest, who quotes others thoughts without regard to the quoted authors opinion on the wolves, modern life vs. pre-industrialization, who controls Idaho's natural resources, and name calling to say the least. Whom among you are not transplants? What gives any of you the right to decide or change the way from yesterday forward? Is it just because you live in the SV area or Idaho NOW that you are ordained the right opinion vs. the next transplant? Who is an Idaho native and shouldn't they have the first word on what is right or wrong? I just don't see all this backstabbing when it comes to fishing. 10/11/09 - 12:43
You might see the concern if they try to introduce piranha's to Silver Creek. If you have been here for six months you are an Idaho resident, so you have the same rights as anyone and you can vote. I have been in Idaho since 75 when I made the choice to move here. This issue has seen enough courtroom drama, I say gut shoot them wolves. 10/11/09 - 23:23
I'd like to see the pirahanas survive in those frigid temperatures, Chuck. 10/12/09 - 08:55
Hey with a little more belief in the hoax global warming and hybridization of browns and piranha's we can ruin fishing in Idaho next, once hunting and fishing are wiped off the face of Idaho, we can get those nasty fire wood cutters, ranchers, farmers, and then all that will be left to remove are ski mountains, ski skate trails, human footprints on wilderness trails, at that point we can demolish rural homes, and towns, peel up the paved roads, by golly then we will be rewilded for sure...post no trespassing signs on the borders of the extended wilderness, shoot trespassers, and look for someone else to persecute. I love it. See sustainable development, agenda 21. 10/11/09 - 07:22
Gosh, I never saw a fat hunter or and ATV at 8,000ft on any of these rocky and timbered ridges where the deer are, and where wolves hang out.. 10/10/09 - 10:55
wolfy, hunters are pussys, need guns and atv's, I eat surfer um good...Now we here in Cali, know who the cali basher is. We are going to buy the land around you and build strip malls. 10/10/09 - 11:00
10/10/09 - 11:49
Even though, I don't always agree with him, what you are doing there is absolutely disgusting. What's wrong with some of you? If you don't agree with the taming of the land, fine - fight it in other wasy. You don't have to pull stunts like that on individuals you might not agree with. This is the USA still. 10/09/09 - 13:01
Along with license and tag fees for eight decades, building the prey base to support the additional predator to this eco system in the Rockies, the wolf, that funding for wolf reintroduction came from hunters, and other fundiing comes from the federal Pittman-Robertson Act, which imposes a federal tax on sales of firearms and ammunition, just the excise tax take on firearms and ammo is projected to be well over 1 BILLION dollars in 2009 and that money is all earmarked for habitat conservation, especially wolf conservation. So, in effect, hunters have been subsidizing a major portion of the wolf reintroduction. Pro wolf advocates would like to deny this truth but they simply can not do so. Combine that aspect with the promise to states of being able to manage the numbers of wolves made in the original reintroduction documents and subsequent upward adjustments (EIS, state management plans, delisting rule false starts) and it has created the conditions for a backlash. As well those original ESA records state this Canadian wolf is a non native experiemental animal..The greatest drop off of people supporting the wolves is happening right now. Only the hard core few are left. The America public has realized they have been lied too and the majority are walking away. Each day their numbers dwindle. But in reality the wolf lover only had 1/16 of 1 percent support to begin with. LOL and now they are getting smaller and smaller and smaller each day. 10/09/09 - 13:45
So answer me this Greg, and I want an honest assessment from you. How many of these "hunters" are out there for sustenance? Then, on the same token, how many are out there strictly for bagging a trophy? I'm willing to wager, it's a 20% to 80% trophy hunters. I used to work in a place where people were fairly well off, yet a majority of them hunted strictly for bragging rights. It was all about the points, and not so much about the meat. I have no problem with the sustenance hunting crowd, Greg. None at all. It's the trophy ones that really piss me off. 10/09/09 - 16:00
Greg, 10/09/09 - 16:05
The odds of finding a trophy, and then being successful are rare. The minimum trophy class Mule deer buck is 190. The Bull elk is 375. I think it is safe to say less than 10 hunters annually bag either one, and in fact those record books speak for themselves. I killed trophy class deer, used the hide, kept the horns and ate the meat. Trophy hunters hunting a bone often go with out. The majority of hunters are seeking meat. With this economy we will see less hunters in the field in Idaho, most camps were empty last fall. We can find environmentalists of your side of this who are only in it for the $$$, whats the difference. I suppose a persons trophy depends on their own perspective, I always went by the Boone and Crocket legal trophy guide lines, those harvest rates are rare. Show me any of mans occupations free of abuses, wrong doing or corruptions, then I'll join it. 10/09/09 - 16:23
So if this wolf (these WOLVES) is of the wrong variety, then I guess all the "wolf haters" would have no problem with the reintroduction of the "native wolf" and they would let them live and not want a wolf hunting season, right? 10/09/09 - 17:47
Yawn. 10/09/09 - 18:46
From your response, it looks like you've been checkmated, Farber. You also are one that claims to be this great outdoorsman.. yet, you're just another tame the wild for the urban cowboy type. 10/09/09 - 21:42
"it looks like" ? Idaho has a lot of great outdoors types. "Urban cowboy tame lands"? Get real, when I was a youngster this country was a lot wilder then, than now, and I miss that, many trails in the Sawtooth and Frank Wilderness area's were covered with grass and flowers, fallen trees, and looked like no one had passed through those places in years, I seldom ran into the urban REI backpackers loaded down with all those things they cannot do with out, sleeping bag, tent, mattress, cook stove and pot, dehydrated grub, and wearing down the trails to dust, like we see in recent years. I used to go to Sawtooth Lake and spend a week and not see a single other person, hike over to Barron Lake for another week and enjoy solitude. Now those trails are covered in yuppie granola turds behind every rock. Don't blame me for taming this place, I did not invite you here. On those outings I saw abundant wildlife, including wolves.. You want to bitch about tame lands then go dig up the people who tamed them, our 1800s ancestors. Where did you move here from Poacher ? L.A. N.Y. ? Why don't you go back and rewild those lands, California's Sierra Range is tamed also. go bitch at those people, is that why you moved here, because where you came from was ruined, now you all brought those problems with yourselves and you got the nerve to point to me and us natives about 35 years of infiltration into our home, which was pristine before you guys came. I think we should Hayduke Elkhorn..Go bitch at those people what built those disgusting shacks in that beautiful place, a nice tame urban environment with elk starving to death right next to it.. You never saw the day you could check mate me.. 10/09/09 - 23:12
You should know that I like getting your goat, Gregg. Unfortunately, i'm not as lucky as you I guess. I'm probably about 30 years younger than you, i'm guessing. I've been eeking out a living in these parts since my early 20's.. But, i've had my experiences around here being alone far from anyone going cross country in these parts and not seeing people for days. I guess, i'm grateful for that. With a population of 300 million in this country, and slated to be at 400 million by the middle of the next decade, I don't hold out much hope that many wilderness areas, or populations of wildlife can survive without being made into subservient psuedo domesticated commodities that agencies like this states fish and games buy and sell like cattle at an auction. Heck, that's what those tags already are. That's why I don't hunt Greg.. I came from a family that hunted, but I don't find it interesting, personally. Especially not in this current state that this country is in. I am also not naive enough to know that the future generations will have it much worse off than what we have now. Every subsequent generation will get handed a land a lot more abused and broken than what the generation before it had. 200 years from now, this place just might be nothing more than a tamed land where wolves and elk are just in a zoo, because the wilderness is gone. They'll have a big pen in elkhorn where you go and pet the baby elk.. Removing the wolves is the first step towards achieving that goal, Gregg. It's the first step to where Idaho's wilderness is back to being like what's in the Sierras, the southern rockies, and the appalachians. That's what these anti-wolf folks want. They want the land more tamed, more subdued, more like every where else. I don't f'in want that. 10/10/09 - 07:54
You can still find this experience in the frank church. That is why I spend most my time in there. The queens loop in the sawtooth is my favorite trail in that wilderness. There are also several unmarked unknown trails out there. who knows, if you get up some courage perhaps I'll give a couple up to you. Did you happen to catch the Ed Wardle hike across the Yukon this summer..He failed, due to malnutrition.. 10/10/09 - 08:22
Slow Elk Poacher, Harvesting wild game provides the truest form of locally grown organic meat. 10/10/09 - 10:11
John, I don't disagree with you. I've stated before that I have no problem with sustenance hunters. It's mostly the trophy hunters that aren't out there for really obtaining meat that annoy me. 10/11/09 - 07:31
Poacher, It is against the law to waste big game meat, and it is even illegal to leave the rib cage behind. I personally in 35 years of hunting have rarely heard of people just taking a head off and elk and leaving the rest, most often it is a Californian who did it.. Your talking about a very low percentage over your own lifetime of this going on in Idaho..So low that it almost does not get a percentage number. People in all activities do rotten low down things, does this mean we stop all activities? This is just propaganda to demonize hunting.. London 10/09/09 - 12:18
" Liberty cannot be guaranteed by law. Nor by anything else except the resolution of free citizens to defend their liberties." Edward Abbey I defend my Liberty to be a natural born predator, a dissident alpha among my own tamed and dumbed down kind. 10/09/09 - 12:55
London or G.F. or whoever you want to be, 10/09/09 - 16:12
The only thing I will remind you of food chain is if it is all babble, well then why not defeat me easily in open debate concerning any of those topics I shared, as well one huge stumbling block you will need to over come are the several congressional globes proving my case, and I have posted those on line in several blogs besides SVO. You must be to busy or to lazy to read your congressional globes. As well, I posted those topics for the purpose of giving anyone the opportunity to debunk them..Still waiting. 10/10/09 - 09:08
Wow, 10/11/09 - 22:49
I would not be surprised if a few of those Congressmen do have false teeth. Sure, come on over and peek in the pantry, no problem. I earned my retirement the old fashioned way, sweat and blood. Good luck with your paper empire and your chain smoking buck tooth uncle tom prez. 10/12/09 - 09:08
I wonder what type of advanced degrees those congressmen and presidents all have, do you suppose it is economics, or how to bankrupt a nation and that nations people 101.. Some advanced degrees they must have, 66 trillion $$ debt, brilliant, I wish I could get me one of those pieces of worthless paper tooooooooo ! Then we can be like food chain, In debt we trust. Tell you what food chain, you bring your advanced degrees with you, I'll bring a couple pounds of gold with me, we'll talk school then. 10/09/09 - 12:14
I like Edward Abbey to, he predicted a collapse. " In social affairs I'm an optimist. I really do believe that our military-industrial civilization will soon collapse." --Eward Abbey Sure am glad I know how to hunt, fish, and gather edible and medicinal plants flowers and roots, and to live as a wild natural man among predators and prey as mankind has done for centuries before this tame and civilized insanity herded all these "humans" into organized pens. Cartoons and grammar lessons aside.. 10/09/09 - 12:45
Dear London: I read a sci fi book when I was a kid, one line of which has stuck with me, "rats were always a problem for mankind, until they turned into a food souce. Then they disappeared overnight." 10/09/09 - 12:56
The city people will die out. How will they reach the mountains, with no fuel or water, they will resort to cannibalism and violence. the majority of these people are not even prepared for such and event. They will be looking to loot those who are. 10/09/09 - 13:10
Farber, You obviously well underestimate these people. Most idaho rednecks got it easy compared to the ghettos of NY, LA and Chicago. Most idaho rednecks are also very full of it, as well. Most of them are too overweight, and also feeding heavily on the trough of industrialized society ,as well. How many of these people rely heavily on fuel (snowmachines, pickups, or atvs) to be the survivalist groups they claim to be. I'd give most of the health nuts in ketchum a much higher chance of surviving a major catastrophe than the pseudo survivalist crowd down in the snake river plain. 10/09/09 - 13:26
Poacher, I would have to agree with that assessment. We should be teaching them not belittling or condemning them, that is where we differ. 10/09/09 - 11:24
I reckon I'm just gonna gut shoot me some wolfs and make me some skins and go to a resturant. There is no law against stupidity. You all may go now. 10/09/09 - 10:56
Here is a video to inspire all the hunters for tomorrow morning! 10/09/09 - 11:17
"Whenever I see a photograph of some sportsman grinning over his kill, I am always impressed by the striking moral and aesthetic superiority of the dead animal to the live one." - Edward Abbey 10/09/09 - 11:53
The sense of justice springs from self-respect; both are coeval with our birth. Children are born with an innate sense of justice; it usually takes 12 years of public schooling and 4 more years of college to beat it out of them. --Edward Abbey 10/09/09 - 10:36
mpc, you don't have to look to LA, just look in the mirror. 10/09/09 - 13:44
I think you missed the point??? 10/10/09 - 09:23
Redneckho, 10/09/09 - 10:09
Hey London check this out Google search is awesome sometimes! Lynne Stone Stanley Basin, Idaho resident Lynne Stone grew up on a wheat ranch in eastern Oregon, raising livestock and riding horses. She still has her handmade saddle, but has exchanged horses for a mountain bike. Hunting was and is her family's favorite pasttime, although she no longer partakes She should know full well what the wolves do to Elk and deer numbers seeing that she used to be a hunter herself! She should also know not to shoot from a roadway! Really hope the F&G writes her a ticket! 10/09/09 - 09:18
I wonder why exactly it is forgotten that man is wild as well, man has been here for centuries also, man hunted for forage, meats, clothes, these ancient skills are handy to know. Also it was not so long ago that if you did not hunt you did not survive. I hunt because I am Independent and free willed just as my prey is. I don't depend on others to feed me. People who become dependent on easy foods handed to them via and exchange system created by man, historically have died of starvation, riots, or another type of violence. Those white necks believed their pretty cozy little tame world would never crash down around them and come to a sudden halt. If I take a wolf I will eat it, make me a coat of his hide combined with elk hides, and I will polish the skull, and admire it, like the Predator I really am.. 10/09/09 - 10:09
Preview of tomorrow, good hunting. 10/09/09 - 11:15
Proper grammar is a skill as well. There is no law against stupidity. You may go now. 10/09/09 - 11:47
That's the problem with grammar and cartoon fiction, no one eats. 10/09/09 - 11:59
In social affairs I'm an optimist. I really do believe that our military-industrial civilization will soon collapse. --Edward Abbey 10/09/09 - 09:14
lynne, 10/09/09 - 09:25
She believes in the second amendment, and those extreme left wing liberals who are trying to ruin it. How brilliant is that. I also filed a complaint for shooting from the roads. And for her cruising about harassing people participating in a legal hunt. She photos license plates, vehicles, and looks for any little thing she can find in order to call police or IDFG and get people busted. She is just like her government, self appointed police man of the world.. 10/09/09 - 10:15
Sounds like she's an individual, then. Not some sheep that just follows the same thought patterns as the herd she hangs out with, like most of the redneck anti-wolf crowd that I know. 10/09/09 - 12:07
I guess If I make her just like me then she is no longer and individual, and If your theory of how we all should be living is enforced then we are no longer individuals. You don't want to hunt for your foods, fine and dandy, that is your right. I have the right to hunt and I do so. If you wish for a collective community of non individualism then just wait awhile, it is being implemented and you're helping it along. In social affairs I'm an optimist. I really do believe that our military-industrial civilization will soon collapse. --Edward Abbey 10/09/09 - 09:02
I wonder why, exactly, were wolfs created in the first place. It couldn't possibly be because they are part of the "chain-of-life. That would be too obvious. I think maybe it was a good way to showcase the low IQ's of rednecks! 10/09/09 - 11:09
That's wolves, you mental giant. There is no law against stupidity. You may go now. 10/09/09 - 09:02
If I were pro wolf I would come on here and say lets gut shoot wolves. If I were pro management of all big game animals (I am) i would come on here call hunters, jerks, rednecks, beasts, evil people. Thus making my opposition appear worse than they really are. Only gullible people fall for this crap. 10/09/09 - 09:02
I wonder why, exactly, were wolfs created in the first place. It couldn't possibly be because they are part of the "chain-of-life. That would be too obvious. I think maybe it was a good way to showcase the low IQ's of rednecks! 10/09/09 - 08:58
The deal is you have to say it in that Beavis and Butthead voice. I never liked the show with those two idiots but every once in a while it just fits. That little laugh they made with that gravelly voice between comments was funny as hell. 10/09/09 - 08:54
If Stone is so smart then she should know Chuck is just trying to get her goat. If the below comments info is valid then threaten chuck into silence then. "the world has its eyes on the wolf hunt in Idaho, and how hunters like you are frothing to "gut shoot'em". Wolfy - the two comic hunters in the myspace video, are too intelligent to be SNS and Live 2 Hunt. Keep posting your stupidisms on the Mt Express, so that they can be passed on to the legal system, and national and world media." If the people who read and believe this mainstream crap are so gullible then perhaps wolves lovers should start posting this same rhetoric themselves.. It's called being and opposame.. 10/08/09 - 23:31
Keep it up Chuck - the world has its eyes on the wolf hunt in Idaho, and how hunters like you are frothing to "gut shoot'em". Wolfy - the two comic hunters in the myspace video, are too intelligent to be SNS and Live 2 Hunt. Keep posting your stupidisms on the Mt Express, so that they can be passed on to the legal system, and national and world media. 10/09/09 - 06:18
Dear Ms. Stone: 10/09/09 - 07:20
Thats it Lynne continue the emotional propaganda flowing. Keep selling the view that the wolf is a mystical god-like creature. Keep the clueless ones sending in the contributions so you and your friends have a job. 10/08/09 - 21:54
what about those wolves, I say gut shoot'em. 10/08/09 - 21:52
