Ya, go ahead and give the kids a complex and also give them some paperwork that will forever follow them though out their lives. Can anyone say, Revenue Enhancement? "Don't muddy the waters", what a load of self importance. 05/20/09 - 17:57
A few points to refute some of the hysteria. 1. Programs like Teen Screen have been endorsed by the President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health and it is also list as a "best practice" prevention effort by the National Registry of Evidence Based Programs and Practice. 2. Funding for Teen Screen is available for public review and comes from individuals, private foundations and "organizations committed to the early identification of mental illness in youth and the prevention of teen suicide" like NAMI (The National Alliance on Mental Illness). 3. No diagnosis is made during the screening, only a recommendation for further assessment by a qualified professional of the parents choice be that mental health professional, doctor or minister. 4. The screening is completely voluntary....you or your child don't like it; don't take it. If you don't support Teen Screen for your child that's fine but please don't muddy the water for others with your fears. 05/20/09 - 09:42
84% false positives (misdiagnosis) out of 100 is not an accurate tool for anything but getting kids into services. Parents need to hang onto their rights in raising their kids because they know their children better than anyone else. Once a mental health label is stuck in your child's records it's pretty hard to remove. Screening is lavishly funded by drug companies, why would that be? 05/20/09 - 09:30
Please do not let your child be exposed to this! It is not in your child's best interest to be exposed to this scam. The "social workers" probably went to one seminar on this subject. Leave it to the physicians to properly diagnose your child for depression, or any other mental health issue. TeenScreen get out of our schools. You are a scam. Get NAMI involved instead. 05/20/09 - 06:56
TeenScreen is a front group for pharmaceuticals. Going into schools and "screening" is a fantastic way to round up more young customers who can be hooked for life. Here are the facts on TeenScreen: 05/20/09 - 19:05
I second that. we don't need more kids on pills that lead to other pills and on and on and on. Leave a Comment
