Idaho Values Alliance issues guide

A guide to primary election issues is available online at www.gemstatevoterguide.com.

The Gem State Voter Guide is a joint project by the Idaho Values Alliance, Idaho Chooses Life and Education Excellence Idaho.

It features candidate responses on 25 issues, including "the sanctity of life and marriage, religious liberty, education, fiscal and tax policy and environmental policy."

Both candidates in the contested race for a seat on the Idaho Supreme Court, incumbent Joel Horton and challenger John Bradbury, returned questionnaires.

"It's quite significant that both candidates for the Supreme Court returned questionnaires," said Bryan Fisher, executive director of the Idaho Values Alliance. "In many states, voters fly blind when they go to the polls in judicial elections because candidates often will refuse to even return questionnaires."

Candidate profiles are also available for both congressional races and for the U.S. Senate race, as well as contested primaries for the Idaho Legislature.

Jigsaw to host educational lunch

Jigsaw, a group of local entrepreneurs, will host a lunch presentation from noon to 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, titled "Taking a Product Idea to Market" with Walter Littenburg.

The lunch will be at Zions Bank, 291 Washington Ave. in Ketchum.

Littenburg invented the first Tip Table, the plastic card that fits in a wallet and tells you what to tip your

waiter, taxi driver, etc. He will discuss 10 practical guidelines for bringing a nascent product or service idea to life and will help listeners apply those guidelines to their own budding ideas.

Cost is free to Jigsaw members and $10 for non-members.

48 Straight CFO to step down

Ketchum resident Steve Brown is stepping down from his role as chief financial officer of 48 Straight, the Ketchum-based event company that brought the Ski Tour/Jeep King of the Mountain to Sun Valley the past two ski seasons.

Kipp Nelson, who with Brown founded the company, said Brown has been donating immense amounts of his time to 48 Straight to help it get off the ground.

"It wasn't fair to ask him to do the hardest and least glamorous job—crunching the numbers," Nelson said. "After two winters, we have our feet pretty much under us and now he'll have enough time to spend a chunk of the day on his own commercial interests."
