On Easter, skiers have one last hurrah

Sun Valley Resort closed the 2013-14 ski and snowboarding season on Bald Mountain late Easter Sunday afternoon amid big crowds and high spirits. During a party Saturday at the Warm Springs base of the mountain, winners of the Poker Run skiing competition, in which skiers follow clues to spots on the mountain to collect cards for poker hands, raise their arms in victory, above. The winning team of four women, from left, was Laura Blackburn, Heather Minor (holding her son Cash), Hailey Mintz and Michelle Ferris. Below, skiers ride the Challenger lift on the Warm Springs side of the mountain. Sunny weather brought out large numbers of Baldy revelers on Sunday, with crowds gathering both at the base and the summit. The resort has not yet released skier-count figures for the season.
